November

Can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving. Had everyone brainstorm this evening about favorite Thanksgiving foods so I can make a shopping list. We're kind of heavy on the starches, and i have to decide if I'm making sweet potatoes, since I'm the ONLY one who likes them.

And no-one else wants pumpkin pie. Apple, which I like, but I've made two of them this fall already, and I'm kind of tired of them. Ok, not really, but pumpkin is sounding good. And I have homemade pumpkin puree in the freezer. Oh well, I'll make it in a couple of weeks.

Cleaned off my kitchen counters today, and cleaned out the fridge yesterday. I'm ready to cook.

Good for you! I still have to tackle our counters, but I was working on them Friday since I was hosting the charity sewing. John and I have hte week off which I"m really looking forward to getting things off my to do list, and getting to do some baking and things. We're always heavy on the starches at Thanksgiving too.

You can always make the pumpkin and then freeze it in manageable portions. I've done that with pecan pie since John doesn't like most pies.

Great idea, the freezing in manageable portions! Put a pumkin pie in my fridge, and I'll eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I'll have to remember to do this throughout these holidays.

Fairly recently, we bought a freezer to put in the basement, mostly because we found our kitchen freezer is just not adequate. Now I stock up on all kinds of frozen foods and I never have to stop in the store and think, "do I have room in the freezer for that?" But the freezer provides the added benefit that surplus tempting foods can be stored to better control the rate of consumption.
